What this studio keeps

This page sets out what SHEEP STUDIO LTD does with information about you. The company is the data controller for everything described here, and it is written in plain sentences because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.

This website collects nothing at all

There is no analytics on this site. No cookie is set by us, no tracking pixel is embedded, no advertising tag runs, and nothing you do here is counted or profiled. There is no comment field, no newsletter box and no contact form, so there is no mechanism by which this site could transmit anything you type.

The crop and safe-area tool on the opening page is pure arithmetic performed inside your own browser. The two dimensions you enter are never sent anywhere, are not stored between visits, and vanish the moment you close the tab.

One request does leave your browser for somebody else: a single stylesheet of two typefaces served by Google Fonts. Google receives that as an ordinary web request, which includes your IP address and the kind of browser you are using, and their own terms govern what they do with it. If you would rather not make that request, block it — every page here stays completely readable in your own system’s typefaces, because the layout does not depend on those two fonts arriving.

Email, and a brief you send us

If you write to studio@sheepstudio.buzz we receive your email address, whatever you chose to tell us and any attachment you sent. That correspondence sits in the mailbox serving that address and in our own copies of the exchange. It is used to answer you and to carry out work you ask us to do. It is not sold, not rented, not added to any marketing list, and not passed to anyone outside this studio unless a job genuinely requires it — a printer, for instance — in which case we tell you who, before it happens.

Please do not send us material you are not free to share. Brief material frequently contains someone else’s confidential information, and we would rather receive a careful summary than a document you were not meant to forward.

How long things stay here

An enquiry that does not turn into work is deleted within twelve months, along with its attachments. Where a brief becomes a job, the correspondence and the agreement are kept for six years after the work finishes, because that is the period over which this company has to be able to answer questions about its own contracts and accounts. Artwork and production files are kept while any licence we have granted over them is live, so that a client can come back for a file rather than pay to have it rebuilt. Accounting entries are kept for as long as HMRC and the Companies Act require.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Under UK GDPR, answering an enquiry rests on our legitimate interest in replying to somebody who has approached us; carrying out a job rests on the contract for that job; keeping financial entries rests on a legal obligation. We do not rely on consent for anything on this site, because there is nothing here that would need it.

What you can ask for

You may ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to our holding it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to studio@sheepstudio.buzz and we will answer within one calendar month. Deletion is straightforward except where we are obliged to keep something, and if that applies we will say which obligation and when it expires. If you are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority, whose guidance and complaint route are published at ico.org.uk.

If this page changes

It will simply be rewritten. There is no archive of previous wording and no version numbering, so what you read here is what is true of the studio now; if a change affects work already under way, the people affected are told directly rather than left to re-read a web page.
